La firma británica de arquitectura, WKK Architects, reveló las imágenes de un rascacielos ondulado en 1075 Nelson Street en Vancouver.
Destinado a convertirse en el edificio Passivhaus más alto del mundo gracias a sus 178 metros de altura, incluirá 480 unidades residenciales de alta eficiencia energética, que ayudará a reducir drásticamente los requisitos de calefacción del rascacielos, así como sus emisiones de carbono.
El 1075 Nelson Street se distinguirá por su forma ondulada que pretende evocar un brote que crece en su entorno de hormigón y desafiar la percepción de que los edificios energéticamente eficientes deben tener formas cuadradas básicas. Para lograr el estándar Passivhaus, su exterior se hará hermético con un 40% de triple acristalaminto de alto rendimiento y un 60% de paredes con sobre aislamiento.
Se emplearán también dos sistemas de ventilación de recuperación de calor de bajo consumo de energía que distribuirá aire fresco a cada una de las 480 unidades, al tiempo que se evitarán corrientes de aire desagradables.
Si bien el diseño interior no ha sido revelado todavía, se prevé que del número total de apartamentos: 102 sean destinados a vivienda social, 50 a unidades de alquiler y 328 a unidades de condominio.
Una vez completada la torre, se convertirá en la más alta del mundo en su tipo,sustituyendo al rascacielos residencial Bolueta de 88 metros de altura y 28 pisos, ubicado en Bilbao, España.
