El Puerto de Cádiz (España) ha comenzado un nuevo proyecto junto con Divergent Energy y la distribuidora de gas Primagas para suministrar electricidad creada a partir de Gas Natural Licuado (GNL) a los camiones refrigerados que estacionan en el muelle Marqués de Comillas mientras esperan el tránsito a otros puertos.
Gracias a este plan, se podría mejorar la transición energética del enclave gaditano, ya que eliminaría por completo entre 1.993,61 y 2.492,02 kilogramos de CO2 al día, a parte de suprimir definitivamente cualquier emisión de óxido de azufre y de partículas, según indica la Autoridad Portuaria.
Por el momento, el recinto portuario registra el movimiento de 600 camiones frigoríficos cada semana, pertenecientes a los operadores Grupo Mazo, Trasmediterránea Logística y Acotral, los cuales tienen que esperar embarques de hasta 72 horas con motores diésel en pleno funcionamiento para mantener el frío que necesitan las mercancías.
Otra ventaja de la nueva técnica de suministro eléctrico es que disminuirá el ruido que hacen los equipos de frío de los semirremolques. El plan consta en crear una red eléctrica sin ninguna clase de cableado desde el centro de transformación, ya que la energía eléctrica se genera por medio del GNL que aporta Primagas.
Mientras se pone manos a la obra, recientemente el Puerto de Cádiz se ha embarcado en una nueva misión comercial virtual, a través de la cual quiere crear conexiones con Argentina y Uruguay. De esta forma, el enclave busca posicionarse como aliado en las rutas comerciales entre Latinoamérica y el mercado europeo.
