La estrategia de movilidad diseñada por la Comisión Europea «olvida a los conductores profesionales del transporte de mercancías por carretera en su plan de acción de 82 iniciativas que proyecta para la próxima década», a juicio de Astic.
De igual modo, la organización empresarial del transporte internacional estima que «algo similar ha ocurrido en nuestro país hace unos meses con el Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia que presentó el Gobierno”.
En este misma linea, el director general de la patronal, Ramón Valdivia, asegura que “desde la Comisión Europea se han vuelto a olvidar de los profesionales. Aquí se está hablando de digitalización y descarbonización, pero no se acuerdan de que hay cinco millones de conductores profesionales circulando por Europa que necesitan 100.000 plazas de aparcamiento seguras, confortables y debidamente equipadas para poder realizar su descanso. Parece que cuidar a las personas no tiene que ver con la sostenibilidad”.
Astic estima que el documento de la Unión también centra su atención en el ferrocarril y el transporte marítimo, «dejando al margen a la carretera, ignorando la vital importancia de ese modo de transporte para dar auténtico impulso a la comodalidad», pese al, a su juicio, «papel estratégico y transversal que el transporte de mercancías por carretera ha jugado en las semanas más duras de la pandemia, evitando el desabastecimiento de la sociedad y del resto de sectores productivos».
En consecuencia, la organización empresarial pide que se atiendan debidamente las necesidades del sector y afirma que «no se puede forzar al transporte pesado de mercancías a una adaptación exprés a la transición ecológica sin garantías para conseguir una sostenibilidad ecológica, social y económica».
En este mismo sentido, la UETR estima también que la nueva Estrategia de Movilidad de la UE contiene una serie de medidas positivas, pero no aborda por completo los problemas aún sin resolver en el mercado del transporte europeo por carretera.
