Turistas locales, nacionales, extranjeros ahora podrán acceder seguros al parque arqueológico de Machu Picchu por la ruta amazónica, gracias a un puente Harzen recientemente instalado entre los distritos de Santa Teresa (La Convención) y Machu Picchu Pueblo (Urubamba), región Cusco.
Se trata de una estructura modular metálica de 70.18 metros de luz, bautizado como “Saucepampa” o “Puente Presidencial” elevado sobre la confluencia de los ríos Santa Teresa Salkantay y Sacsara Yanatile.
Autoridades locales, como Marcos Vargas Contreras, alcalde de Santa Teresa; y Enoc Núñez Huamán, representante de Provias Nacional, Xavier Enoc Núñez Huamán; y trabajadores del Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones, hicieron la entrega después de un breve recorrido.
“Esta obra es icónica porque une la provincia de La Convención con Cusco y el país, por este medio de comunicación ingresarán turistas a Machu Picchu, y, así podremos reactivar el turismo, además ayudará al transporte de productos y mercadería a los ciudadanos que viven en el entorno de la carretera Santa María Santa Teresa-Hidroeléctrica”, explicó el burgomaestre.
El ingreso a la zona de la Hidroeléctrica, hasta donde llegan trenes, fue complicado por décadas, turistas que eligen ingresar por la vía Ollantaytambo-Santa María-Santa Teresa pasaron peripecias, incluso se registraron muertes.
Los puentes de cemento, o adecuados con maderos, fueron arrastrados por la crecida de los ríos en época de lluvias; sin embargo, ahora el tránsito será vehicular y peatonal.
Las autoridades agradecieron al gobierno nacional por la instalación del puente y destacaron que dinamizará la economía de los pobladores de ambas provincias.
