La Comisión Europea quiere contar con un régimen transitorio que regule durante seis meses el normal tránsito de vehículos industriales entre la Unión Europea y el Reino Unido desde el próximo 1 de enero.
Con esta medida se pretende evitar el colapso de los pasos fronterizos, permitir que las intensas cadenas de suministro que unen a ambos bloques económicos sigan funcionando a pleno rendimiento y ganar más tiempo, que, al fin y al cabo, es lo que se viene haciendo desde que conociera que iba a haber un ‘Brexit’.
De igual modo, las autoridades comunitarias pretenden cubrirse las espaldas ante la falta de avances en la negociación y la proximidad de la salida efectiva de Gran Bretaña de la Unión.
Para ello, la Comisión propone regular un Reglamento europeo con un nuevo período transitorio de seis meses para que puedan continuar circulando los camiones entre ambos territorios con los permisos y autorizaciones actuales, condicionado a que el Reino Unido apruebe una regulación semejante.
En lo que respecta al sector del transporte por carretera, esta norma, según informa Fenadismer, permitirá a los transportistas europeos hacer transporte internacional hasta el 30 de junio próximo entre ambos territorios, tanto en carga como en vacío, con las actuales autorizaciones y licencias de transporte.
